Lena Normén-Younger, President & Founder
Previous chair of the Vancouver chapter of Swedish Women’s Educational Association (SWEA Vancouver), Sweden House and former BC Functional Food & Nutraceutical Network. Previous project leader of the SWEA project Children abroad and the Swedish Language. Former board member and teacher of Swedish School in Vancouver. PhD in Medical Sciences. Business Manager of the Younger Facial Surgery Centre since 2005.

Created SMUL as a network in 2012, the SMUL Academy in 2016 and registered the Association of Swedish Beyond Borders – SMUL in 2020 as a Canadian charity and a BC based not-for-profit.

Mia Logie, Vice President
Board member of the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada. Previous Chair of Swedish School in Vancouver, Vice Chair of Sunflower Early Learning Society, and Editor of SWEA Vancouver. PhD in Medical Sciences. Former Technology Transfer Officer of UBC Industry Liaison Office. Trained to become a counsellor with the Clearmind International Institute. Presently self-employed Registered Therapeutic Counsellor in Edgemont, North Vancouver.

Malin Benoit-Åkerman, Secretary
Board member of the Swedish Club in Ottawa. Previous chair of the Swedish School in Ottawa/Swedish Club of Ottawa. Previous teacher at the Swedish school in Ottawa. Chartered Professional Accountant with a past at Ernst & Young. Proud mom to two students at the SMUL Academy.

Maya Stano, Treasurer
Previous treasurer of SWEA Vancouver. Geological Engineer and Environmental Lawyer. Senior Policy Advisor of Rivers without Borders. Steering Committee member of Mine Environmental Drainage. Born and raised in Canada with a Swedish mom and a East Indian dad.

Marinette Sedin, Member at Large
Educational consultant and present teacher at Swedish School of Vancouver. Current Board Member of SWEA Vancouver. Lead English Instructor at the Canucks Family Education Centre. Co-founder of the The Sedin Family Foundation.
